Masters Academy International | The Newman School
International Student Athlete Pathway Program

A collaboration and joint offering of The Newman School and Masters Academy International (MAI), the International Student Athlete Pathway Program provides an opportunity for international students in grades 9 through 12 to pursue a college-preparatory education alongside a high-performance athletic training and competition schedule and program.

Students are enrolled at Newman, follow a Newman School-guided course of study, and earn credit toward a Newman certificate of participation and a Masters Academy International high school diploma. The program is delivered on Masters Academy International’s campus in Stow, Mass., an approved instructional site of Newman, where students live, train, and attend class.

Academic instruction is delivered by Newman-approved faculty members by the faculty of Masters Academy International. The classroom experience is uniquely tailored to the international student athlete in the pathway program, and the academic program is fully certified to comply with U.S. high school Common Core, SEVIS, and NCAA authorizations. Pathway students attend classes in dedicated academic facilities on the Stow campus with MAI students undertaking the MAI curriculum. Students carry a full college-preparatory course load. The Newman School and Masters Academy award all academic credit, maintain the official transcript, and confer the diploma through Masters Academy and The Newman School Pathway Program. Pathway students are affiliated members of the Newman student body.

Student athletes in the Pathway Program train at Masters Academy International’s facilities in Stow and at MAI’s affiliated training venues in Marlborough. Pathway students reside in supervised accommodation on the Stow campus, with residential staff on site. Because academics, training, and residential life all take place on the same campus at 688 Great Road, Stow, MA 01775, students do not commute to class, and have their full school program—academics, athletics, and residential life, and meals—at MAI. MAI provides transportation to off-campus training venues, competitions, and weekend programming.
Newman provides opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds to pursue serious studies in a welcoming and supportive environment where self and community are paramount.
