School Opening And Covid Protocols- 2021
The school opening plan for the 2021-2022 academic year is guided by three core principles: the health and safety of our community, preserving Newman’s transformative in-person learning experience, and facilitating student social growth and personal development through co-curricular experiences. We all recognize the importance of safe in-person learning and look forward to being together in the fall. Newman is committing significant resources to ensure the health and safety of the community, deliver the highest quality education, and provide enrichment activities that create the Newman experience. We look forward to welcoming students, faculty and staff returning to the Back Bay.
We’re excited to welcome you to campus. We want you to have all the information you need to reassure our global community that we have addressed your concerns about COVID safety and Newman protocols.
We are confident that we have the best advice, guidance, and protocols and affiliates in place to ensure a healthy experience. Massachusetts has one of the highest rates of vaccinations in the United States. In Boston, we are surrounded by some of the best healthcare in the United States. We have contracted with the CIC Health and the Broad Institute in Cambridge, MA to test and monitor the health of our school community. We are partnering with Mass General Brigham Urgent Care in Boston Common, blocks from Newman School and the Newman Dormitory for emergencies.
All families should be aware that we must follow the advice and protocols promulgated by The Centers for Disease Control, Massachusetts Department of Health, Massachusetts Department of Education, and the Department of Labor and Industry for employees. We continue to use consultants available to the school to make informed decisions.
Below are the policies and guidelines for COVID prevention and safety that we will use to start the school year.
