Coach
I was attracted to Newman due to the dynamic and diverse student body and faculty
I have always loved the study of history, and a global perspective into the subject always piqued my interest when I was in school. When I started teaching, I wanted to bring that global perspective to my classrooms - so I worked to include multicultural resources, indigenous and authors of color, and international geopolitics into my curricula, for example.
I am coming to Newman after 3 years at Nativity Preparatory School in New Bedford, MA, where I taught Civics, modern American History, and English, as well as serving as head basketball coach and the Athletic Director. I was attracted to Newman due to the dynamic and diverse student body and faculty, as well as the opportunity t o pursue my interest in history through the applicable global lens within the IB framework. In addition, I look forward to coaching basketball at Newman!I am excited to be starting at Newman and my 4th year teaching, as well as being back in my hometown of Boston! -
Part-Time Coach
Here at Newman everyone goes above and beyond their job titles by helping out whenever they can and that is why I am grateful to have joined the Newman Family
This is my first year at the Newman School and I am the Assistant Technology Director, Assistant Business Manager, and Head of the 9-10 After School program. I joined Newman after graduating from Boston College in June 2020 with my Masters in Athletic Administration. At Boston College I was able to get an on campus job in classroom technology which is a field I have always been interested in. I've always had a passion for education and sports, which is why I went to BC. Before BC, I attended Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. At Bates I majored in European history and was a three year starter on the defensive line for their football team. Following Bates, I worked at year as an instructional aid at my alma mater, Exeter High School in New Hampshire. I was also fortunate enough to coach Football, Swimming and Track and Field there. The year at Exeter showed me that I wanted to have a career in education, sports, and technology which is why I ended at BC and then Newman. I chose Newman because of its community/family environment. Having worked at a large public school there was never a large sense of community. Here at Newman everyone goes above and beyond their job titles by helping out whenever they can and that is why I am grateful to have joined the Newman Family.
