CAS activity season kicks off with 3 Boston partnerships

Sports:

We have partnered with the YMCA of Greater Boston to offer a free membership to every Newman student who wish to take part. Students in both MYP and DP programs will have the opportunity to take fitness classes, work out independently with supervision and instruction, and select from a variety of forms of exercise with experienced YMCA trainers, including on-line classes.

Tennis, Running, Crew, Sailing, and Field Programs will be for five weeks.  After five weeks, we will offer a new sign on for students who wish to choose a different sport.

We have renewed our affiliation with Community Rowing and Community Sailing Clubs to offer programs for up to 8 students at a time across MYP and DP at any level of experience. Different boat capacities and sculling options are available based on interest.

Activities:

For clubs and activities, we are building a suite of offerings that are inclusive of those much cherished clubs such as yearbook, model UN and chess club. Other examples will include student choice in on-line activities, E-sports, and student led initiatives.

Service:

Our school-wide community service initiatives will be focused around supporting the YMCA's commitment to Boston's youth and families. The YMCA has responded to the Covid-19 crisis with courage, commitment, and compassion, delivering over one million meals to local families, students, early childhood programs, hospitals and care facilities, and first responders.  We are also proud to support this initiative by providing the cost of each student's membership to support the YMCA's efforts.  As part of this arrangement, Newman students will work as volunteers to assist the YMCA of Huntington Ave.
