The 2011 season will be underway soon and the team is competing in the Girls Independent League. The G.I.L is comprised of teams from Boston Trinity Academy, The Waldorf School of Massachusetts Bay, The Learning Center, Elizabeth Seton Academy, The Commonwealth School, Boston University Academy, The Winchenden School and The Newman School.
Newman Wins 2011-2012 G.I.L Championship
The Newman Women’s soccer team won the G.I.L championship for the first time in dramatic fashion. After being down 3-1 at halftime with Kimmy Rosales being the lone scorer, Newman tied the score in regulation with goals by Abeba Leveille and Cleo Woodcock to send the match to overtime. With 1:00 left in overtime, Olivia Gilligan-Corsetti scored on a pass from Sarah Bentivegna to win the game.
