This school handbook, based largely upon our experience as educators, is intended to provide students and their families with an overview of school rules, policies, and requirements; it is in no way intended to name every situation or cover every eventuality that may occur.
The handbook has been developed as a guide, not to cite everyday “do’s and don’ts”, but rather to convey the school’s spirit of responsible participation in a mature educational environment.
The students who choose to attend Newman express their desire to participate responsibly in this environment, and we reasonably expect each student to understand his or her obligations. We require that Newman students will go beyond “doing the minimum” required to get by, whether in the classroom, in the halls of the school, in the neighborhoods, or in their lives.
