The Newman School’s Senior College Seminar/Dual Enrollment Program offers qualifying seniors the opportunity to enroll in courses during the Fall or Spring Semester at specified local colleges and earn both high school and college credit as part of their regular high school program.
There are two components to this program, the college course and a required seminar at The Newman School that supports the college course and assists students with the transition to college. Students must satisfactorily complete the seminar to earn credit at Newman. Credit for the college course is awarded by the college.
Students are selected for participation in this program based on G.P.A., consistent demonstration of high academic achievement, personal responsibility, faculty recommendation and compliance with the criteria of the college. Students are expected to use their “open periods” in the library or quiet area at Newman for making up coursework and assignments they may miss due to early dismissal to attend the college course. Enrollment is limited.
