Academic:
The Newman School uses a traditional grade point system to assess each student’s academic performance. Students receive a grade point average (G.P.A.) at the end of each semester, which is calculated based on the grades earned for the semester and the credit value of the course. The grading system is as follows:
Letter Grade Grade Point Value Numerical Equivalent
A+ 4.3 97-100
A 4.0 93-96
A- 3.67 90-92
B+ 3.33 87-89
B 3.0 83-86
B- 2.67 80-82
C+ 2.33 77-79
C 2.0 73-76
C- 1.67 70-72
D+ 1.33 67-69
D 1.0 63-66
D- .67 60-62
F .0 Below 60
Advanced Placement Courses are weighted as follows:
A+ = 5.3 C+ = 3.33
A = 5.0 C = 3.0
A- = 4.67 C- = 2.67
B+ = 4.33 D+ = 2.33
B = 4.0 D = 2.0
B- = 3.67 D- = 1.67
