After students are accepted to The Newman School, all students will meet with the Dean of Students to plan their yearly schedule and plan a course of study for their remaining years at Newman. Course schedules are planned twice a year, in December for the Spring Semester, and again between mid-April and mid-May for the following fall.
While it is generally expected that students will remain in their scheduled classes for the entire semester (or year), it may happen that a teacher will make a recommendation to the administration for a change in section (i.e. from college prep level to honors level). Upon approval of the change (by the parents and the school), the student may enroll in the new section. At the end of the quarter, the student’s performance will be evaluated and a recommendation offered to determine if the student should remain in that section or return to the original section.
