Making-Up Courses

Students attending for the entire summer session to make up a course and earning a full grade higher (e.g. the grades goes from a D- to a C-, or a D to a C, etc.) will receive credit for the course, it will be recorded on the transcript and it will be calculated into the G.P.A. The original grade for that course will also remain on the transcript and be calculated into the G.P.A. If a student does not earn at least the required minimum grade for the course, there is no additional credit awarded, therefore the G.P.A. remains the same and the course is recorded as REVIEW on the transcript.

Please note: credit earned for retaking a course does not count toward fulfilling graduation requirements (e.g. if a student earns a D- in Algebra I, retakes the course during the summer and earns a C+, the improved grade and credit are noted on the student’s transcript, however the Algebra I course and credit are only counted once toward fulfilling the math requirement for graduation).

The homework study period will be a directed after-school study for students who need extra help and for students who have not successfully completed homework assignments. Work must be assessed or turned in at the end of the study. If need be, additional time will be assigned until the work is completed. Continuing students with a grade point average lower than 1.7, or at least on “F” or more than one “D”, are required to participate in this study until their status shows sustained improvement. All freshmen are required to attend a freshman after-school study for the first quarter, when, upon evaluation, they may become exempt.
