	English 10 T  Syllabus Mr. Bartosik Spring  2012 The Newman School Boston, MA Course Description: English 10 T will focus on enabling students to succeed in an academic environment through extensive writing, analysis of literature, and advanced vocabulary and idiom study.  Students will read appropriate works of literature, analyze their literary content, and respond to the writer’s intent and style.  Students will learn to write persuasive and comparative essays, as well as increase their vocabulary and recognize useful everyday idiomatic phrases. Course Materials: Reason to Write workbook Writing Notebook Class work Notebook The Old Man and the Sea Animal Farm Lord of the Flies Grading: 25% Class participation/ Homework 25% Written Essays 25% Quizzes 25% Mid-term and Final Exams   Course Expectations: Students will be actively engaged in all class activities Students will copy all material from the board  Students will not bring food or drinks to class Thomas Bartosik tbartosik@newmanboston.org
