Listening, Speaking, Vocabulary 2

    Julianne Papetsas                                      Semester Course

Course Description:

LSV2 is a class where ESL students new to America can practice their conversational English speaking skills and their listening comprehension.  LSV2 builds the students' vocabulary with words that will be practical to their schooling and their lives here in America.  Phonetic work is done to help the students' pronunciation, as is a great deal of speaking to allow students to become more comfortable with expressing themselves in English.  This class also focuses on the development of good note-taking skills as students listen to academic lectures on a variety of topics.  At the conclusion of the course, students typically feel more comfortable in the American culture and education system, having used this valuable semester to reconcile the difficulties they've encountered.
