Course overview:
This course will focus on the essential elements of short fiction, including short stories, plays, essays, and poetry.
Objectives:
Students will learn to understand short fiction through discussions about the structure of the works and through analyzing the literary devices used in the works. Students will also learn to write effective comparison essays on short fiction they have read.

Course Policies and Expectations:
Students are expected to write notes from the board in their class work notebooks.
They are expected to participate in class activities, pay attention to what the class is working on, and keep neat, thorough notebooks.
No food or drink is allowed in the classroom.
