Ablative Case:
Ablative of Agent
When a verb is in the passive the person by whom the action is performed is
expressed by the Ablative with the preposition a or ab.
Ablative of Agent must have three p's: passive voice, a person and a preposition
Ablative of Means or Instrument
Means or instrument is expressed by the Ablative without a preposition. It is
regulary used of things and is usually translated by with or some other preposition meaning by means of.
Ablative of Manner
The manner in which an action is performed is expressed by the Ablative with
cum. If the noun is modified by an adjective, cum may be omitted, if it is used, the word order must be: adjective, cum, noun.
